Bokn - The Waymark

“Bokn, a lot bigger than I thought”

A refrain often heard from those who take off from highway E-39. Three large islands and a flock of small outer islands in the shadow of Boknafjellet Mountain are the most visible features of Bokn. Drive a little further and you will find 20 freshwater fishing lakes, the formidable WW II bunkers that watch over the approaches to both Karmsundet Sound and Boknafjorden Fjord, and the fertile scenery around Sunnalandstraumen Canal. In the twilight, deer prowls the forests at Vatnaland while the locals at Alvestadkroken are sitting down by the seahouse wall enjoying an end-of-day chat. A turn off the main road well worth taking…….!
