| New Vindafjord is
the project name given to the merger between the
communes of Ølen and Vindafjord, creating
one commune by 01.01.2006. New Vindafjord Commune
is situated at the inner part of Haugalandet with
the town of Ølen as the administrative
centre. Covering 634 km² and with a population
of approximately 8 200 inhabitants, the new municipality
will be, geographically, one of the largest in
the region.
New Vindafjord has 9 thriving villages, each
with its own particular characteristic. With
a standard of living that is among the best,
a great community spirit and rich cultural life,
it is a place one gets to like easily.
New Vindafjord is home to a comprehensive industrial
base comprised of small, medium and large businesses.
Additionally, the new commune will be the 4th
largest agricultural district in Norway, in
terms of animal population and the fact that
10% of all meat production originates from here.
